For thousands of years, the Norwegian Arctic cod has been an important part of Norwegian heritage and livelihood.

ArcticSource1 uses sustainably sourced wild-caught Norwegian Arctic cod from the fresh waters of the North Atlantic Ocean. The Norwegian Arctic cod, or Skrei, travels far to the feeding area of the Barents Sea for much of its life, returning abundantly from these ice-cold waters to their original spawning grounds off the northern Norwegian coast. This extraordinary journey results in strong muscle and firm flesh, giving the Norwegian Arctic cod unsurpassed taste and texture.

Each year, a fishing quota is distributed and strictly enforced to preserve the abundance of the Arctic cod. The Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries and Norwegian Food Safety Authority work closely with the Norwegian Coast Guard to enforce fishing laws by patrolling, monitoring fishing activity, and inspecting catches.

To this day, Norway still has the most abundant wild cod stock in the world.
